Day #236 - Discipleship - Micayla Robertson

Dear God I’m Grateful For Discipleship

A disciple is a personal follower of Jesus during his life, especially one of the twelve Apostles; and a follower or student of a teacher, leader, or philosopher. According to Luke‬ ‭14:33‬ ‭NLT‬‬, “You cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own.”

“A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, “If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:25-27)

“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.” – John‬ ‭8:31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So, when Jesus called his twelve disciples together, He gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness. (Matthew‬ ‭10:1‬ ‭NLT‬) We have also been given this authority through Christ and have been charged to go out and make disciples of every nation.

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

The best way to acknowledge discipleship and make new disciples is through sharing the love of God with others. As Jesus says, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”” – John‬ ‭13:35‬ ‭NLT‬‬
