Day #220 – Christ Took Our Punishment
Dear God I’m Grateful That Christ Took Our Punishment
.
Imagine living in a world where your mistakes mark you for rest of your life and your sins determine where your soul ends up. Imagine a world where we receive the punishment we so rich deserve for defying God and rejecting his love and discipline.
.
Unfortunately, so many live in this reality, constantly bound by their mistakes and living in fear of punishment for their past actions. They hopelessly desire an escape from their minds and aimlessly search for something or someone to fill the void. The issue is, they haven’t met or know of Jesus Christ.
.
The Bible says that we are born into sin and shaped in iniquity, meaning that Jesus, righteousness and salvation must be learned. As obvious as it may seem, there are many who innocently may never learn about Jesus and even more who know about him, but consciously choose to remain in darkness their entire lives. To the benefit of those who believe, God gave us Jesus to save our souls and endure our punishment.

“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin.

People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.” -Romans 3:22-26 NLT

Had Jesus not taken our punishment, we would all live our lives in fear and enter into an eternity of turmoil. He is the way, the truth, and the life, and His life gives each is us the opportunity to be saved. We simply have to make the decision to believe.
