Day #162 – Vengeance Is The Lord’s
Dear God I’m Grateful That Vengeance Is The Lord’s
.
“O Lord, the God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, let your glorious justice shine forth!” – Psalms 94:1 NLT
.
When people wrong you it’s easy to want revenge or wish the worse on them. Being born into sin, we naturally revert to emotions of anger when wronged, which, if not checked, can manifest in our actions and responses to situations.
.
But vengeance belongs to the Lord and him alone.
.
“The Lord is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and rage. He takes revenge on all who oppose him and continues to rage against his enemies! The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.” – Nahum 1:2-3 NLT
.
Being children of God gives us a special protection because the Lord personally watches over us. He protects us from harm, delivers us from evil, orders our steps, and takes revenge against our enemies. He knows all and instead of responding to evil with evil, he encourages us to conquer evil with love.

“Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.
.
Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.” Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”
