Day #107 – Reconciliation Through Christ

Dear God I’m Grateful For Reconciliation Through Christ

.

Today and tomorrow will be a 2-part series on reconciliation as the scripture of the day really grabbed my attention. It says:

.

“For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.” – 1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

.

Reconciliation is defined as the restoration of friendly relations. Another definition states that it is the action of making one view or belief compatible with another. The scripture above references what we will cover today, which is reconciliation between God and humanity after the great fall.

.

Once sin entered into the world, our relationship with God was strained for generations. It wasn’t until Jesus Christ came and sacrificed his life for us, forgiving all sin and allowing us to made new in Him. In this, we gained the opportunity to be reconciled with our Heavenly Father, but it was only made possible through on Mediator – Jesus Christ

.

“Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view.

.

At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ.

.

And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:14-21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

.

Forgiveness and salvation were necessary before reconciliation and it took perfection found only in Jesus to right our wrongs. Reconciliation is not just mending a broken relationship, it involves complete renewal and spiritual restoration. Jesus restored the one relationship that mattered and because of Him, we now have an ambassador who sits at the right hand of God and advocates for humanity on our behalf.

.

Although it initially began with death, (the spiritual death that came with sin, the death of Jesus Christ, and the death that accompanies crucifying our flesh and removing our old life) reconciliation brought life with eternal life, renewed life in Christ, life after death both physically and spiritually and life to relationship with our Heavenly Father.
