Day #93 – Prophecy
Dear God I’m Grateful For Prophecy
.
Prophecy is the revelation of God’s Word concerning man. According to the Brittanica definition, the Hebrew word for prophet is naviʾ, which means “to proclaim, mention, call, summon.” We must not confuse prophesy with predictions, as all prophetic messaging is sent directly from God by the Power of the Holy Spirit.

“Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.” – 2 Peter 1:20-21 NLT
.
The Bible is a testament to prophesy fulfilled as the message of a Savior was sent through prophecy years and decades before Jesus was even born. His life fulfilled prophecies from the moment he was born to the moment he was risen. His return is not a prediction, but a promise that he will come back for judgement, which prophesy has revealed will come to pass in the near future.

It is up to us to not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good and obey the word of God
(1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 NLT ). There are false prophets who walk among us, so we must be alert and on guard at all times, testing the spirit and the message that is shared.

““Then the Lord said to me, ‘What they have said is right. I will raise up a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell the people everything I command him. I will personally deal with anyone who will not listen to the messages the prophet proclaims on my behalf. But any prophet who falsely claims to speak in my name or who speaks in the name of another god must die.’ “But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the Lord?’ If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the Lord did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared.”

True prophecy is a spiritual gift that will discipline, warn and prepare us for the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! May we walk in obedience and not fall victim to false prophets.
