Day #87 - Stillness - Micayla Robertson

Dear God I’m Grateful For Stillness

Sometimes God calls us to enter into a season of stillness so that we can hear from him clearly. He desires our undivided attention and wants us to remove any distractions that keep us from surrendering to him.

In a culture where we’re constantly on the move and celebrate giving up sleep, being still can come as a challenge to many.

Honestly, we all experienced a taste of this with the worldwide covid-19 pandemic that took place last year. An unexpected event that took the world by storm, we were ALL called to be still, whether we liked it not. When God requires stillness he removes all distractions to get our attention. He can speak to us in the midst of a storm and His power is so great even the wind and waves obey his commands.

“When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.” -Mark‬ ‭4:39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭107:29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Being still shows God that we have faith in Him. His plans are always greater than our own, so when we embrace stillness, we ultimately surrender to his plan over our own and invite peace and direction into our lives. If the even the winds and waves obey the Lord, we as his people should also do the same.
