Day #86 – Good Deeds

Dear God I’m Grateful For Good Deeds

.

It’s evident that when we perform good deeds, we expect that good things will come back to us in return. We quote sayings like, “treat people the way you would like to be treated” or “reap a blessing by being a blessing”, but good deeds are more than just ways to receive.

.

“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” – James‬ ‭2:14-18 NLT‬‬

Our actions and good deeds are how we showcase faith. Without faith, we would not have a heart to help or a willingness to give and without good deeds, we would not receive the feeling of fulfillment or the fullness of Gods love that comes from providing for someone else out of what God has provided us.

Behind every good deed is the faith that God will provide and restore, and faith alone is the belief and hope in things unseen. So when we do good unto others we are proving to God how much we believe in the good that he has done for us.
