Day #64 – Naps
Dear God I’m Grateful For Naps
.
For starters, I never took naps before now, and although I know this is going to make me sound much older than I actually am, it’s crazy how much taking a nap gives me more energy throughout my day.
.
I’m not talking about full out sleep in the middle of the day due to laziness and lack of motivation, but actual 1-2 hour naps to refresh your body and rest your mind so that you can be more productive in the work that God has called you to do.
.
Before recently, I believed in the non-stop grind where the concept of “sleeping when I’m dead” is praised and celebrated. I would stay up countless hours into the night “grinding” on my dreams, only to sleep a couple hours a night and wake up sluggish, drained, and internally exhausted.
.
The truth is, sleep helps. Even if you’re chasing your dreams and trying to take advantage of ever hour in the day, it helps to take a moment of rest each day for your body to reset.
.
Think about it, God chose to rest on the seventh day after creation (Genesis 2:2) and even Jesus took naps (Luke 8:23), which means we should also find rest in the midst of creativity.
