Day #108 – Reconciled Relationships

Dear God I’m Grateful For Reconciled Relationships

.

Yesterday we discussed the power of Reconciliation Through Christ and how Jesus came to reconcile our previously strained relationship with God. Today we focus on reconciliation within relationships and how we can come to peace with one another.

.

Reconciliation is defined as the restoration of friendly relations.

When we lose relationships or experience a strain within our friendships, the common cause is typically a difference of opinion or belief, or pain caused by one or both sides.

.

When people we love hurt us, it can be hard to reach a point of forgiveness. But forgiveness is for you, as it allows you to find peace with the situation.

.

“Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” (Ephesians‬ ‭4:32‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

.

Forgiveness is also needed for salvation, as your decision to forgive others can impact God’s decision to forgive you of your sins. Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬ ‭NLT says, “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

.

Once forgiveness has been met by both parties, then the decision to reconcile can be discussed. However, Reconciliation must be desired by both sides in order to take place and both must agree to a new beginning.

.

Yesterday showed us that Reconciliation through Christ involved death to old behaviors, forgiveness of sins, and renewed new life in Christ. The same applies to our relationships with each other as we must cut off our old ways that may have caused pain, forgive those who hurt us and accept forgiveness from those we’ve hurt, and then establish new boundaries or new ways to communicate.

.

Some people are in our lives for a reason, some for a season, and some for a lifetime. Although we always have the option to forgive and leave a relationship completely, reconciliation can only take place if desired by both parties. If the relationship was seasonal, it’s okay to forgive and let go, but if the relationship is meant to last a lifetime, then both must be willing to forgive and agree to a new beginning.
