Day #154 – Tears
Dear God I’m Grateful For Tears
.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”” – Revelation 21:4 NLT

With tomorrow being Father’s Day, I am overwhelmed with sadness and realized just yesterday that although it’s been over 6 months since he passed, I haven’t actually allowed myself to grieve my father’s death.
.
It feels as if all of my emotions are pouring out at once. My sadness is so heavy I feel it in my body, my tears are uncontrollable, the pain in my heart is too much to bear and all of my doubts seems so sensible. I honestly see why the enemy uses our lowest points to lure us into traps, because what I feel right now is more than enough to make me want to soothe my pain in alcohol, drugs, or anything to make it numb. Grief has a way of crushing spirits and if unprocessed it can cause us more harm than good.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” (Psalms 34:18 NLT)

A good friend had to remind me that when it comes to grief, tears are cleansing. Our tears speak for us when we have no words and the Lord loves us so much he collects our tears and brings us peace in the midst sadness.

“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
Psalms 56:8 NLT

So please learn from me and process your grief sooner. Let yourself feel all of your feelings and allow your tears to fall. Don’t ignore sadness and don’t let months pass before you choose to feel. God will bring you peace in the midst of grief, he will mend your broken heart, He will restore your joy and He will dry your tears and silence your fears. His word says it, I believe it, and I have faith that joy will come.
