Day #195 – Reliability
Dear God I’m Grateful For Reliability

“An unreliable messenger stumbles into trouble, but a reliable messenger brings healing.” – Proverbs 13:17 NLT
.
God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. He has never spoken and failed to act. He has never promised and not carried it through. (Numbers 23:19 NLT) God is true to his word and fulfills his promises. He is reliable and he sent us Jesus Christ as a messenger and an example of reliability.

Ephesians 5:2 says that we called to be imitators of Christ, which means as children of God we should uphold integrity, honor, trust, and truth. We should reflect our Heavenly Father in thought, speech, and actions and also be reliable, true to our word and do what we say we’re going to do. Being reliable isn’t just limited to how we treat each other because it also applies to how we should approach God.

“As you enter the house of God, keep your ears open and your mouth shut. It is evil to make mindless offerings to God. Don’t make rash promises, and don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few. Too much activity gives you restless dreams; too many words make you a fool.

When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. It is better to say nothing than to make a promise and not keep it.

Don’t let your mouth make you sin. And don’t defend yourself by telling the Temple messenger that the promise you made was a mistake. That would make God angry, and he might wipe out everything you have achieved. Talk is cheap, like daydreams and other useless activities. Fear God instead.” -Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 NLT
