Day #230 - Loyalty - Micayla Robertson

Dear God I’m Grateful For Loyalty

“Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable?” (Proverbs‬ ‭20:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬) “A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.” – Proverbs‬ ‭17:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Loyalty is giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or institution. Or in Christ-speak, loyalty is showing unwavering faithfulness to God the Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit. Our loyalty to God requires undivided allegiance, for God is jealous and issues a harsh punishment for those who are disloyal.

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.” – ‭‭James‬ ‭1:5-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Love the Lord, all you godly ones! For the Lord protects those who are loyal to him, but he harshly punishes the arrogant.” – Psalms‬ ‭31:23‬ ‭NLT‬

Since lack of loyalty brings instability, and those who divide their loyalty should not expect to receive anything from God, I pray that God becomes our fixed source of stability and our priority for loyalty. May we learn to cast down any gods or idols in our life that prevent us from solely serving God, and may we choose to invite him into our hearts to purify and cleanse us from within.
