Day #251 – Shelter
Dear God I’m Grateful For Shelter

Today it rained.
.
Thunderstorms shook the ground, lightning flashed across the sky, rained drops hitting the window became the soundtrack of the afternoon and my husband came downstairs, took my hand and asked if I had a minute to give God thanks.
.
I shook my head in agreement and he humbly began to pray thanking the Lord for shelter. For giving us a place to peacefully weather the storm and for placing a roof over our heads when others may not be so fortunate.
.
His prayer moved me and I began to see the many faces of homeless people I’ve encountered this past week run through my mind. I began to pray for them, for their needs, for their safety, for their health and for their shelter.
.
We are all homeless until we make our way back to our Heavenly home, but many of us have been blessed with the gift of shelter. We have been blessed with a roof over our heads, a place to take shelter, and a peace that comes with feeling safe. For this I am grateful.

I am grateful for both the physical ans spiritual covering of shelter in my life. For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things He does. (Hebrews 13:14 NLT, Psalms 73:28 NLT)
