Dear God I’m Grateful For Work

Today is Monday and even though I know it’s a holiday (President’s Day), I also know that some of you were dreading the thought of having to wake up and go to work.

So many of us experience the common case of the Monday’s and do not look forward to going into a job that doesn’t bring us fulfillment. But nonetheless, I’m grateful for the opportunity to work and having work that the Lord wants me to do.

Whatever industry you’re in, Colossians 3:23-24 instructs us to “work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.”

With Jesus as our boss, we know we wouldn’t be shopping on amazon during work hours or turning off our video during zoom calls. He is our ultimate authority and even though the earthly boss may not see us slacking, Jesus does.

If you don’t like your job, or your boss, don’t let your environment impact your attitude to work. We are called to be a light and a reflection of Christ in every industry, so make sure that you work as unto the Lord and commit your actions to him so that your plans will succeed.
