Day #69 – Seasonal Relationships
Dear God I’m Grateful For Seasonal Relationships
.
There’s a saying that I always repeat that says “some people are in your life for a reason, some for a season, and some for a lifetime.” But while each person is there to help you grow, if they’re not lifetime relationships, eventually the relationship must end.
.
I believe the people in our lives for a reason are the angels that God sends us messages through that may or may not know us personally, but their impact is always right on time. The people in our lives for a season are the friendships or relationships we build while we navigate new territory and explore new opportunities, but eventually we learn and grow and develop new skills, so they serve their purpose in that season, but do not continue with us once we’ve outgrown that mindset. And then there’s the people in our lives for the long haul, who know more about us than our family and who sharpen, encourage, honestly criticize and pray with us, and somehow have been around through good and bad, witnessing all of our seasons of growth and loving us through each process.

Today, I ended a seasonal relationship after realizing how much I’ve grown. While the relationship served me greatly over the years as I grew more in faith and found clarity, it was evident that the relationship no longer served the direction that I was heading. It was challenging to end, but looking back I see the blessing in my growth and the beauty in finding clarity.

Seasonal relationship have taught me the importance of self-care, setting boundaries, protecting your peace, learning to trust again, healing from past hurts, and exploring new opportunities. Although they do not continue after a certain point, I can’t help but thank God for the time that they have given me and the lessons that I’ve learned from each of them.
